PHILCONSTRUCT Celebrates 34 Years: Paving the Way for Industry Advancements

This year marks the 34th year of the Philippines' largest construction expo, PHILCONSTRUCT Manila. Learn more insights as Mr. Barry Paulino, Executive Director of PCA shares the goals and vision of this 4-day event.

In its 34th year, PHILCONSTRUCT once again took center stage as a pivotal event in the construction industry. The annual affair, conducted four times a year, spanned across different regions—PHILCONSTRUCT Luzon in Clark, PHILCONSTRUCT Visayas in Cebu, PHILCONSTRUCT Mindanao in Davao, and culminating in the grand PHILCONSTRUCT International Exhibition in Manila. This 4-day event was held in two grand venues, SMX Convention Center and World Trade Center in Pasay to accommodate over thousands of exhibitors and attendees.

The event, which has been a consistent industry fixture, provides a platform for exhibitors, suppliers, contractors, developers, and government implementing agencies to converge, fostering vital connections across the supply chain. With the upcoming 35th-anniversary celebration, next year's PHILCONSTRUCT promises to be even grander.

The anticipation for this year's event was marked by expectations of a significant show, with numerous exhibitors showcasing materials, equipment, and cutting-edge technologies. The event acts as a bridge, facilitating interactions and collaborations that are essential for the industry's growth.

PHILCONSTRUCT has always been at the forefront, inviting new technology providers and service providers to participate. Recognizing the construction industry as a key driver of economic growth, the event emphasizes the role of stakeholders in embracing new technologies and innovative solutions. The Techno Forum series, featuring webinars and seminars, serves as a knowledge-sharing platform, highlighting the roadmap for the industry, focusing on digitization and modernization to ensure global competitiveness.

The event plays a pivotal role in showcasing the trajectory of the construction industry, from Industry 3.0 to the current Industry 4.0, with an eye on Industry 5.0. PHILCONSTRUCT emphasizes the importance of adopting AI tools to expedite and streamline construction processes, making them more efficient and economical.

"In 1969, we were in industry 3. 0. Somehow, we did not progress that fast. We are still groping to reach industry 4.0. Perhaps the big boys, so to speak for the construction industry – they're now applying targeting 4.0. But the SMEs, the small and medium enterprises, they still lack awareness. And we help to promote [new technology], although this new technology is very expensive to, to get.  And we also need the skilled workforce to be associated with it. So we need to really promote on the way to the 4.0 trajectory, but we should not stop there. We should live proud to industry 5.0 with the introduction of ai, virtual reality, extended realities, – all kinds of realities," Barry Paulino, Executive Director of Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) expounds on the vision for PHILCONSTRUCT.

Beyond the exhibitions, PHILCONSTRUCT is actively involved in partnerships, including design competitions like Estilo de Vida and the Skills Olympics for engineering students and mentors. The event incorporates digital design methodologies and hands-on experiences, preparing students for the real-world challenges of the construction industry.

PHILCONSTRUCT serves as a hub for the industry's players, providing a space for networking, knowledge-sharing, and exploration of the latest technologies. It's not just an event; it's a catalyst for industry growth, awareness, and preparedness for the evolving landscape of construction. With its ongoing success, PHILCONSTRUCT remains an essential annual event for everyone involved in the construction industry, contributing to its continued advancement.
